    Harm Reduction Program Specialist

    Hamilton County Public Health (HCPH) is accepting applications for a Harm Reduction Program Specialist in the Department of Community Health Services. Requirements include: High school diploma or GED with experience in public health, health education or related field, and experience in injury or substance use/abuse prevention, as a first responder, within healthcare systems and/or other similar positions. Bachelor’s Degree, RN/LPN, LSW, OPRS, OCPS, OCDP, CHES, MCHES, CDCA or other relevant certification preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residency.

    Job Duties include but are not limited to:



    Serve as the day-to-day field staff for the harm reduction program focused on these core program components: (1) collecting client intake, client surveys, and other data for the syringe services program; (2) ensuring culturally and linguistically appropriate education is provided to participants, family members, and the community; (3) providing supplies for syringe services; (4) distributing personal care items such as condoms and take home pregnancy tests; (5) promoting testing, counseling, and referral for communicable diseases; (6) offering peer navigation for linkage to addiction treatment services; (7) providing overdose prevention education and supplies including naloxone; and (8) linking to other healthcare and social service providers as needed.

    Collaborate with Harm Reduction Program Supervisor on scheduling; monitoring orders/inventory; completing program reports and program evaluation; program policies and procedures revisions; proposal development; and inter-agency collaboration.

    Conduct various community outreach, trainings, and/or activities including delivery of current information about harm reduction, injury/disease prevention, and substance abuse disorder treatment and care.

    Other projects and duties as assigned by Harm Reduction Program Supervisor.

    Provide support for public health emergencies.
